(NEWS) “DON’T MOVE” Will Have You Running To Theaters This September

When a horror novel makes the leap from the page to the big screen, everybody wins. Readers get the excitement of watching the terrifying moments they've imagined come to life. At the same time, moviegoers discover a brand-new horror story that might just send them racing to the nearest bookstore after the credits roll. Some of horror's most memorable films started as novels (“Bram Stoker’s Dracula,” for example). Every new adaptation brings another opportunity to see how filmmakers interpret the scares, creatures, and suspense that first captivated readers. It's one of my favorite things about the horror genre. There's always that fun debate over which version is better, but before that conversation even begins, it's exciting to see another horror story earn its chance on the silver screen.

That opportunity arrives this September with "Don't Move," the upcoming creature feature directed by Maclain Nelson and based on the chilling novel "Don't Move" by James "Murr" Murray and Darren Wearmouth. The film follows a stranded group of campers who unknowingly hike into the wrong stretch of wilderness, only to discover they're being hunted by a prehistoric arachnid that has no intention of letting anyone leave alive. If giant spiders weren't unsettling enough already, this one looks ready to unlock a whole new level of nightmare fuel. The film stars Lyndsy Fonseca, T-Pain, Russ, Tom Cavanagh, Hunter King, Rob Riggle, and Joseph Lee Anderson, assembling an eclectic cast that's more than capable of bringing this suspense-filled survival story to life. Seeing T-Pain step into the horror genre alongside such a talented ensemble only adds another layer of intrigue to what is already shaping up to be a fun creature feature.

While many people know James "Murr" Murray as one-fourth of the wildly successful television series "Impractical Jokers," horror fans have watched him quietly build an impressive career as a horror author over the past several years (he has even teamed up and worked with famous children’s horror author R.L. Stine on “Nightmare on Nightmare Street”, " which was released this year in February). Teaming with Darren Wearmouth, Murray first ventured into horror with "Awakened," followed by its sequel "The Brink." He later delivered the pulse-pounding "Don't Move," the thriller "The Stowaway," and most recently, "You Better Watch Out," proving that his passion for horror extends far beyond practical jokes. It's been genuinely fun watching someone best known for making audiences laugh successfully transition into crafting stories designed to make readers squirm. This all but proves the old saying that if you can do comedy well, you can do anything.

As someone who's always happy to see more creature features crawling into theaters, "Don't Move" has quickly become one of my most anticipated horror releases of the year. There's something timeless about throwing ordinary people into an impossible situation against a monster they can't outrun, outfight, or outthink. If the film captures even half of the tension and suspense that made the novel such a page-turner, horror fans should be in for one seriously entertaining ride. And if you're counting down the days until opening night, now is the perfect time to pick up "Don't Move" and experience the story that started it all before seeing how it unfolds on the big screen.

"Don't Move" crawls exclusively into theaters on September 11, 2026. If you're anything like me, you may want to think twice before your next camping trip.
