For horror fans, August is one of the best months of the year. It perfectly captures the spirit of Summerween, when spooky season starts creeping in long before the leaves begin to fall. This year, August kicks off with an especially meaningful celebration for me. August 2 marks the birthdays of two of my favorite writers and directors, Wes Craven and Kevin Smith. It's also my birthday and the anniversary of the I Love Horror Podcast, making it the perfect way to kick off another month of celebrating the genre I love. Adding even more excitement to the festivities, FOUND TV is delivering another solid lineup of found footage and indie horror releases throughout the month, giving fans plenty of chilling new films to stream as Summerween rolls on. August 4 – "The Possession of Altair" (2016): A newlywed couple disappeared in 1974, and their 8mm tapes reveal one of the most horrifying events in Mexican history. Canada and U.S. only.

August 7 – FOUND EXCLUSIVE: "Watchful Eyes" (2026): Sebastian, a grieving man, takes a janitor job on a university campus. While monitoring students linked to a professor's death, he uncovers a ghost story that may be more real than anyone believed. North America only.

August 11 – "VCR Willie: Tape 1" (2025): The camera only existed in Alex's dreams—until he found it on his kitchen table. Now, it only exists to record nightmares.

August 14 – "Beliath" (2026): A chilling found-footage horror set in rural England, where a small local news crew investigates a string of mysterious murders in the South Downs Forest. What begins as a routine crime report soon spirals into a descent through eerie folklore, buried cults, and unsettling discoveries that blur the line between journalism and obsession.

August 18 – "VCR Willie: Tape 2" (2026): In Tape 2, the camera captures the rot beneath the suburban surface. What begins as recordings of cooking and housework spirals into a series of domestic nightmares orchestrated by the mysterious Mrs. Wells.

August 21 – "Dagr" (2024): Fame-seeking YouTubers find themselves in a paranormal nightmare when the advert team they are stealing from awakens a murderous occultist from the past. Canada and U.S. only.

August 25 – "The Doll People Tapes" (2026): Recovered footage reveals the lives of sex workers in a small town as they share their struggles and hopes. As filming continues, unsettling events unfold, leaving behind disturbing evidence of what may have happened to them.

August 28 – "DOC_05" (2026): A group of film students heads to a cabin to shoot their first feature, but when an unknown trespasser begins stalking them, their obsessive director refuses to leave—determined to finish his masterpiece at any cost.
August is shaping up to be a massive month for found footage and supernatural horror.
